Computer Lab!

The students of Carolyn Park Middle School are building a foundation of technology skills in word processing, Internet usage, keyboarding, and digital presentations. This type of class is very unique for the middle school setting and we are very excited to provide this opportunity to place the students on an advanced path in computer literacy.

Ms. Bogran is the certified computer teacher working in the lab and with the homeroom teachers to bring technology into the educational instruction for the students at Carolyn Park Middle School.

EVALUATING WEBSITES

1. Can you tell which of these sites has true information and which does not? How do you know?

http://www.google.com/googlegulp

http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/

2. Use this checklist to help you decide. Read through the 8 points.

3. Try to remember the things in the checklist when you look at other web sites.

Every time you find a new piece of information, try to answer all the questions so that you can make up your own mind whether it is quality information or not.

And finally, never follow advice from the Internet unless you are sure it is correct.

Best source for YOUR report on a
National Park?

Evaluate your site by completing the worksheet for your assigned site. What can you tell by the web address?

Be prepared to share with the class your findings. As a class, come up with the best website for writing a report on National Parks.
